WHO WE ARE: A non-profit legally registered Mexican asociacion civil providing a prepaid plan of cremation and burial services that fully comply with Mexican law.
WHAT WE DO: Upon the death of a member, a phone call to the Executive Secretary initiates the process to carry out the wishes of the member as set forth in their Membership Application. The process includes disposition of the body according to the member’s wishes, contacting family and friends, assistance in arranging funeral or services as requested, registering death with the Mexican authorities and supplying a Mexican death certificate to appropriate survivor.
WHAT TYPE OF SERVICES WE OFFER: Two basic services are offered: cremation and burial. Cremation with or without a niche. Burial in a crypt or a grave. Any services performed outside of San Miguel will incur an additional cost which will be charged to the member’s estate.
WHAT DOES IT COST? Membership fees are indicated in US dollars but may be paid in the equivalent Mexican peso amount. Payment can be made by check or in cash. Checks should be made out to The 24 Hour Assn.
Cremation with ashes in an urn:
Delivered locally in San Miguel $ 900 US
Interred in a niche with a plaque in our
section of the Guadalupe cemetery $1,500 US
Burial in our section of the Guadalupe cemetery:
In a crypt with a plaque $1,500 US
In the ground with headstone $1,500 US
There is a two-month grace period once a person joins. If the member should pass away prior to the two-month period, the association reserves the right to deny services returning the application fee (minus administrative fee) or charge an additional $200 dollars to proceed with our services.
MEMBERSHIP: Open to all residents of San Miguel. Membership fees are refundable upon request. Due to the ever fluctuating value of the dollar, a dollar payment will immediately be converted to a peso equivalent. A dollar refund will be made based on the peso value of the original payment. A $200 dollar administrative fee fee will be charged for all refunds. Allow 60 days from time of request for refund.
Membership requires completion of the 24 Hour Application, payment of the desired service, a photocopy of the front two pages of your passport, a photocopy of your birth certificate. Women may also need to provide a photocopy of a marriage certificate if their name varies from the birth certificate to the passport. The same applies to a legal name change.
